What Is Missing?
Maya Lin Studios, Beijing Center for the Arts and The Shanghai Project

Experience Design and Oversight

Working in collaboration with Maya Lin Studios, What is Missing? is an interactive work on the destruction of animal species and climate change. The first iteration was in 2010 at the Beijing Center for The Arts, Beijing China.  The piece is a 3000sq ft platform with a 26 speaker 9 simultaneous video projection system. The images are projected onto custom handheld screens emitting from below. The piece was installed for 6 months. The second iteration of this version of the piece was as part of The Shanghai project, curated by Hans Ulrich Obrist, in 2017.  In addition to consulting Maya Lin Studios on the physical and technical design, as well as overseeing the installation, I worked with  collaborators on the project including the artist R. Luke Dubois and designer Dana Karwas.
