The Listening Studio is an experimental listening laboratory permanently installed in the Center for Hearing and Communication in Manhattan, New York and at the Veteran's Hospital of Portland Oregon.
The Studio is a collaboration between POD DESIGN+MEDIA and Perlin Studios.
The Listening Studio is an interactive audio and video test designed to assist patients who have hearing aids, cochlear implants or auditory challenges. The custom test creates immersive video and surround sound audio environments through the interactive interface of a musical keyboard. The audiologist performs the test, substituting different foreground and background environments in real time. The patients may, at that very moment on site, have their hearing devices adjusted, so that they may better hear these simulations and the world around them.
Following the success of the the first listening studio in New York, a second listening studio was installed in the Veteran's Hospital of Portland Oregon in 2013
