Radio Costa
Venice Biennial of Architecture
Costa Rica Pavillion Installation
with Oliver Scheutte
In 2014, I created and installed a sound and radio installation "Radio costa rica 89.5 fm" in the Costa Rica Pavilion at the Venice Bienniale of Architecture. This piece consists of a micro- fm radio broadcast and 6 radios, with a custom FM transmitter and software. The radio broadcast is played on a remix engine that mashes up sounds and music differently each time, for 6 months. The radio broadcast only locally, in Italy, consists of sounds recorded and collected from Costa Rica. Users may change the channels, to create a live remix as they feel. The radios were embedded into the deisgned furniture, and played for the full duration of the exhibit. At the opening, I was also invited to perform the sounds remixed at the Venice Biennale Arsenale.
