lost city map: Poble Nou, Barcelona, Spain
As part of my residency at Hangar, in Barcelona Spain, I produced a 30 foot map of my impressions of the radically transforming neighborhood called Poble Nou. Poble Nou is flattening its industrial buildings and creating such massive residential complexes as “sky center” (in english) and the square called “Central Park”. All that is left, as a gesture to the industry before, are the chimneys of each building, standing like redwoods in a barren forest.
The map, a combination of wanderings, notes and ideas was filmed on my treo 650 cell phone. The physical map itself was given to the local residents. Below is the documentation of the map, as well as photos of Poble Nou.
